A commercial box truck overturned on the western side of the Conowingo Dam Thursday afternoon, closing state Route 1 to traffic for several hours.
According to Maryland State Police, a Budget rental truck weighing approximately 13 tons and carrying furniture overturned at the western entrance to the dam. No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved, police said, and the dam did not sustain damage as a result of the accident.
State Route 1 was closed at Castleton Road in Darlington following the crash. State police and local authorities continued to clear the scene of the crash Thursday evening and expected state Route 1 to reopen to traffic by approximately 7:30 p.m.
