The body of a Port Deposit man was recovered along the banks of the Susquehanna River just north of the Conowingo Dam Sunday afternoon, according to Maryland State Police. State Police said foul play was not suspected in his death, which appeared to be the result of a prescription drug overdose.
The adult male was recovered in the area of a boat ramp on the Cecil County side of the river. His identity and the cause of his death were not immediately available, according to the Maryland State Police’s North East Barracks.
From the Maryland State Police:
On Sunday, July 17, 2011 at about 1:10 p.m. troopers from the North East Barrack responded to the boat ramp just north of the Conowingo Dam, Conowingo, Cecil County, Maryland, for a reported deceased subject.
Upon arrival troopers discovered that Andrew J. Hall, 46, of Doctor Jack Road, in Port Deposit was deceased, lying on some rocks near the ramp. There were no signs of foul play/injuries and he was not the victim of a drowning. His vehicle was parked at the ramp and there was an empty bottle of prescription medication found near his body.
Mr. Hall was last seen alive by his girlfriend the day before at about 3:00 p.m. At this point it appears the cause of death is due to an overdose, however, troopers are awaiting the results of the autopsy from the Medical Examiner’s Office for confirmation.
Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly identified the date of the incident and the Maryland State Police barracks handling the investigation.
