A Thursday evening blaze damaged a small dwelling in Darlington, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire was discovered just before 5:30 p.m. in the basement of a 30-foot by 60-foot wood frame home on the 2200 block of Castleton Road in Darlington. Approximately 45 firefighters from the Darlington, Level, Whiteford, Aberdeen, Fawn Grove, Port Deposit and Rising Sun fire companies brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
Damage to the home was estimated at $20,000 and damages to its contents were estimated at $5,000. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Friday morning. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northeast Regional Office of the State Fire Marshal at 410-836-4844.
