TAPE Ribbon Cutting
TAPE, LLC, a company dedicated to the development of innovative solutions to critical systems and high-level security challenges, held a ribbon cutting at their new offices in Water’s Edge Corporate Campus in Belcamp on July 7, 2011. TAPE is a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned/Woman-Owned Small Business that delivers acquisition support, enterprise performance management, force development/management and program management support for systems, software, security and integration services.
SWN Presents Workforce Leadership Award To SURVICE Engineering
James Foulk, CEO, and Jeffrey Foulk, President of SURVICE Engineering Company, accepted the Susquehanna Workforce Network’s (SWN) 2011 Donald E. Thomey Workforce Leadership Award for Harford County at SWN’s annual awards breakfast. The award recognizes companies which exemplify a commitment to raising the competitiveness of workers and improving the local business climate. SURVICE Engineering, headquartered in Belcamp, is a nationally recognized single-source provider for government and industry organizations involved in all phases of the systems engineering process.
Emory Knoll Farms Named One of America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs 2011
Emory Knoll Farms of Street was recognized as one of America’s Most Promising Social Entrepreneurs 2011 by Businessweek.com. In 2010 the farm became one of the first benefit corporations under a new Maryland law that creates a new legal designation for social enterprises. Emory Knoll Farms specializes in supplying hardy plants for green roofs. The nursery raises plants year-round in greenhouses and sells to roofing contractors across the U.S. and as far away as Japan and Singapore.
APG Technology Showcase Draws 600+
Harford Community College hosted more than 600 registered participants from 23 states, representing 284 organizations, at its fourth annual Showcase of Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). Over 60 companies exhibited their capabilities and technologies at the 2 day conference and 43 presenters spoke to the theme Transforming The Army Together. The Harford County Office of Economic Development was a sponsor of the event.
Extended Restaurant Week A Success
Restaurant Week was so successful this year that local restaurant owners requested the promotion be extended an additional 11 days. Mountain Branch Golf Course Grille and Pub in Joppa was awarded for being the busiest restaurant during the event. Rounding out the top five busiest participating restaurants were Josef’s Country Inn, Liberatore’s, Silver Spring Mining Company and Pairings Bistro.
Congratulations to Jason and Crystal Maynard of Belcamp for winning $1,000 worth of dining at Harford County Restaurants.
