-Deferred the decision on agenda Item C, Earning of High School Credit for Mathematic Courses taken in Middle School, in order to hold it over for 30-days to gather public input on the topic. Future approval of this item would grant the awarding of elective credit for Algebra I and Geometry coursework completed in middle school. Grades earned for these courses in middle school would not be included in high school GPA or class rank computations.
-Received a presentation regarding College Readiness. The presentation also included information regarding an established partnership between HCPS and the College Board allowing for further opportunities for professional development/training and to be scorers and writers of the AP exams for teachers in order to continue on the path of College Readiness for HCPS students.
-Received a presentation on the Conclusion of the Legislative Session by Government Relations Coordinator Kathy M. Carmello.

As a Mom of two HS students, I applaude this move to give HS credit for HS classes completed in MS. My oldest peaked early in Math but did not continue with this as a strength. If not for AP Comp Science at North Harford, he would not have had 4 years of HS math. AP Calculus was not going to work for him. We need more class choices for these students.

You do realize the proposal on the table would not have awarded a math credit but an elective credit. A child will still have to take 4 years of math in HS based on the proposal on the table.
Personally I think they should make it a math credit, count the grade and make them take a final exam.

No problem. I would hae suggested your kid thought about AP statistics. Most colleges require statistics of non-math majors.
