Senate Bill 167, providing in-state tuition rates for illegal immigrants, passed the legislature and the Governor will sign the bill soon! We can make a difference as citizens of the State of Maryland by sending this bill to the ballot in November 2012. The Maryland Constitution sets up the framework to do this. However, we will need your help! Come to learn about it!

Whatever happen to tolerance? Oh, that’s right, only liberal groups are not racist. The only joke here comes from the keyboard of Frankly Speaking.
When this issue goes to referendum and is repealed by the voters, will Frankly Speaking call all those who voted for repeal racist? It remains to be seen . . .
Makes me wonder if students will be able to get out of paying out-of-state tuition by claiming that they’re an illegal immigrant? Out-of-state tuition is really expensive.
I think you guys should have your meeting in Whiteford and change the name to Fordwhites instead, that would add a bit of symbolism and really would fit your demographic really well.

Do illegals pay taxes? Don’t you have to have a valid SS# and be documented by your employer to have your income taxed? I guess they pay sales tax and other taxes like that. Can illegals buy property to pay property tax on?

Illegals pay taxes and social security. However, they cannot collect social security. Therefore, we are taking advantage of them.
If anyone is at fault it is those people who employ them. The workers building the buiding across from me spoke Spanish. The worker building the building beside speak Polish. The reason they have jobs is they are hard workers.
Why are you not against free tutition for anyone over 60 in community colleges. Who pays for seniors’ entertainment? The person who pays for seniors’ entertainment is those who are going to community colleges to become educated to get a job.
This results in higher tutition to those who are going to college to get a better job and pay taxes and social security in the future. Those over 60 will being in ___________ and not be able to use their free education.
What about the 700,000 foreign students in American colleges. How many Americans do they keep out of colleges?
You need a social security number to pay into social security. Illegals work under the table for unscrupulous employers who I would happily send to prison… after I sent the illegals home. It’s interesting that most conservatives would like to see something like this go to a vote and would by and large accept the outcome of that vote where most liberals simply want to cram their choice down everyone’s throat and become offended if anyone dislikes the taste.
Illegals are using social security numbers, stolen ones. And they are not paying taxes on any of it.
FOGDOG, if you think that illegals are paying taxes, then the only person you are fooling is yourself. When an illegal gets a job, the claim they have 10 or more dependents so no taxes come out of their checks every week. And since they are using someone elses social security number, they don’t file taxes at the end of the year either. Your buddy Obama is worried about if the rich are paying their fair share, but he doesn’t care that the illegals are paying nothing! He doen’t have to raise taxes, he should just take the money back that the 15 million plus illegals are ripping off the system for, that’s a couple of billion dollars in unpaid taxes right there.
Giving illegals ANYTHING should be ILLEGAL. It’s like letting bank robbers keep the money they stole just because they managed to rob the bank.PC has certainly run amuck when citizens defend illegal activity. Lets open up the country to anyone who can creep, crawl or sneak in.

Why would I want to move . . . liberalism is slowly being eradicated like a disease. It’s just taking a little longer than expected (probably because of the mistake in the White House), but it will eventually go away.
Rob, We here in the US have to get used to not being number one and get ready to be one of the top twenty countries. I’d say being somewhere between 15-20 would be ego-gratifying enough.
It is time to let other countries lead the world and we should embrace progressivism for the greater collective good of all people living in the US, dismantle our military, replace our polluting industries with green eco-friendly ones, eliminate factory farms, embrace locally farmed produce, eliminate our psychotic-dependency on red-meats and move our families to healthier vegetarian/vegan diets.

Most illegals work with valid/invalid SS#’s and their employes report those earnings as well. Social Security gets millions in wages paid to inactive accounts, other people’s accounts and to made up numbers. Illegals paid taxes when they rent, sales tax and income tax, however are not able to file and get a tax refund because of their illegal status. Actually, one can buy a house without having permanent residency and also can own a business. We made the system what it is, not them. To blame others for our innability to take care of our borders is our problem, not theirs.
Not correct . . . it is their responsibility to stay in their own country until they can enter legally (either to work or reside). Don’t displace the blame . . . they break the law when they enter the country illegaly. Why do you thinking they a “sneaking” into the country.
I supposse that Mexico should also be blamed for illegal drugs entering our country and us consuming them? Where is your logic? Illegal inmigration is our problem, not their problem. I don’t know how much clearer than that it has to be.
OK, here’s your logic: Someone breaks into my house because I did not secure it (for example, lock all the doors and windows) and I am responsible (and not the person who broke in). That is a bit silly. Just because we don’t properly secure the borders (blame that on both parties) is not necessarily a defense for entering this country illegally. The burglar may argue in court that he (or she) was not predisposed to breaking into my house but because it was left unlocked, it was fair game. Sorry, it doesn’t work pal. Try something else. In fact, your logic is a bit silly.

@Another Political Critic, Stating that illegals are only taking back land stolen from them and calling for the dismantling of the military indicate Superprogressive is either a troll out for entertainment or a horribly misguided rube. Unfortunately, much of what Superprogressive is spouting is what many liberals truly believe in. His or her assertion that “We have lots of land and wealth to share” is typical. The land and wealth aren’t theirs to give away, but since they think it’s the “right thing to do” they’ll happily take your land and wealth to give it to someone they feel is more deserving… then label you a racist or some such other derogatory name if you oppose their agenda.

Clearly, any nation has to control its borders and our economy needs these workers for jobs that most americans won’t do for a middle class wage. the free market determines how goods and services are produced and delivered and our economy depends from inmigrants both legal and illegal to produce these goods at an affordable price for the consumer. The current system takes advantage of inmigrants, migrants and underskilled workers which under most circumstances can’t enter the US legally because the system gives politifal preference to some countries, ie, russian, thailand, china, easter europeans over our neighbors south of the border even if the economic facts show that low skilled workers are in demand even to the point that employers will hire illegals to meet their human resource needs. Crab pickers, lanscaping, hospitality, construction, food service and menial work is being done less and less by us and more so by foreign workers. Do we tell our children to go ahead get a high school degree and get a job?

The system itself doesn’t actually ALLOW it to happen… it’s just a lousy system and they’re sneaking in. The Federal government won’t do enough to secure the borders and therefore it is in violation of the Constitution by not insuring domestic tranquility or providing for the common defense.

The gist of my argument is that our country, our responsability, our problem. they want a better life for their family and WE allow it to happen by economic convenience, cheap labor and funding SS coffers by not being able to draw from it later.
To equate illegals = criminals is just plainly wrong as they are not taking anything since we freely give away and the right to work here is no longer validated by the govt as they are free to come and work. In addition illegal stay here is no more of a crime of you and I driving over the speed limit. I believe that illegal stay is a misdemeanor not a felony.

You choose to treat people that have committed a FEDERAL CRIME which is a FELONY as folks that have gone 58 in a 55. I’m not going to bother trying. Illegals are not all doing menial jobs. I am living in a building the ruff carpentry was done by about 25 immigrants. My 45 degree baseboard is about 40 degrees. The door frames are so out of line , my doors either wont stay closed or wont stay opened. I agree that they out to ship the employees should be deported along with the immigrants.
