From Wegmans Food Markets Inc.:
Bel Air, MD – Recruitment for full-time employees begins April 1 for the new Wegmans Food Market in Harford County, Maryland. The 130,000 square-foot supermarket will open on September 18 at Box Hill Square, south of Bel Air, near the intersection of I-95 and Rte 924. About 150 of the 600 positions available are full-time; 550 will be new hires. Hiring for part-time positions will begin in July.
Applicants must apply online at www.wegmans.com (click on ‘careers’). Applications will not be accepted at the store or by telephone.
“Full-time positions at Wegmans are about building careers,” says newly appointed store manager Al Jackson, a 22-year Wegmans’ veteran. “I started as an assistant deli and prepared foods manager in Buffalo, New York. Today I have the pleasure – and responsibility – of building a team for a great new location in Maryland.”
Full-time positions range from entry-level management, customer service and cashiers to a wide range of culinary positions. Wegmans will spend $1.6 million on training alone for the Bel Air store.
The market will offer more than 70,000 individual products, including an extensive prepared foods department, fresh seafood delivered daily, up to 700 fresh produce items, and 300 varieties of imported and domestic cheese.
“This business is fast-paced and people-oriented,” says Jackson. “Having grocery experience is not the determining factor in our hiring decisions. We look for people with a passion for service and who enjoy building sound relationships with customers and co-workers.”
A Buffalo native, Jackson joined the Wegmans team in Hunt Valley, Maryland, in 2006. “I wanted to be where the action is,” says Jackson. “We’re opening stores in this region at a measured, but consistent pace, and I wanted to be part of that effort. Working at Wegmans is an opportunity to challenge yourself, to find out if you’re good enough to grow with the company.”

Here we go again. The Wegmen’s is being touted in Bel Air just like the Wawa across the street from it was. This all the while the postal code is Abingdon. Then, just like the Wawa, if something bad happens at the same store it will be either in Abingdon or Edgewood. This store is not in Bel Air it is in Abingdon!

Get over it. No one outside of Abingdoners know where Abingdon is. Most people don’t check out the post office. Who even knows where it is. Bel Air is more known than Abingdon, so the Wegman folks used that as the reference town. Stop being so petty and defensive.

CDEV.. absolutely..you are so right !! I can see it all now, it’s Bel Air when it’s good and Abingdon/Edgewood when there is a problem…and I’m dreading the traffic and once the other section is built I can’t even imagine the headaches.
frankly speaking says
south of Bel Air and south of Canada too!!!, actually is more like east of Bel Air….nonetheless ABINGDON as is now known and back in the day was simply known as Constant Friendship. Once the intersection is fixed, traffic will become still congested, just not as much as now.
