From Harford County Public Schools:
Patterson Mill Middle School eighth grader Jordan Cook has been selected as a state winner in the Maryland Humanities Council’s Letters About Literature (LAL) Program. From thousands of entries across the state, her submission, Letter to Rick Riordan, The Lightning Thief, was awarded first place for her grade level. The 2011 Awards Ceremony will be held at the CityLit Festival: April 16, 2011, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Enoch Pratt Free Library/Wheeler Auditorium. LAL is a state and national writing contest that encourages young readers in grades 4 through 12 to respond to an author through a letter expressing how that author and book changed their worldview and themselves.
