The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of a Friday afternoon blaze which damaged a Bel Air home.
The fire was reported on the 200 block of Wakely Terrace in Bel Air at approximately 1:23 p.m. on Friday by the owner of a ranch home, who discovered it in their basement. A total of 25 firefighters from the Bel Air, Abingdon, Fallston and Joppa fire companies brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, according to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
The blaze caused $95,000 in damage to the home and an additional $25,000 in damages to its contents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the State Fire Marshal’s Office at 410-836-4844.

To correct the report from the MSFMO. The fire was actually placed under control within 10 minutes and there were 35 firefighters from Bel Air and Abingdon only.
