A Wednesday evening fire damaged an Aberdeen home and drew nearly two dozen firefighters from local companies to the scene, according to the State Fire Marshal’s office.
The fire was discovered by the owner of a bi-level single-family home on the 700 block of Everist Drive at approximately 5:44 p.m. Tuesday evening. A total of 24 firefighters from the Aberdeen, Level, and Aberdeen Proving Ground fire departments brought the blaze under control in about 10 minutes.
According to the State Fire Marshal’s office, the fire was ruled accidental in nature, and was caused by the misuse of smoking materials. The blaze caused $5,000 in damage to the home and an additional $3,000 in damage to its contents. No injuries were reported.
