The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a blaze which broke out in a stolen vehicle located in Abingdon early Monday morning.
A Harford County Sheriff’s Office deputy discovered the fire in the rear of a 2007 Suzuki four-door vehicle on the 3000 block of Philadelphia Road in Abingdon shortly before 2 a.m. Monday morning. Five firefighters from the Abingdon fire company extinguished the blaze in about five minutes.
The vehicle was found to have been stolen out of Baltimore City, according to the fire marshal’s office, and when contacted by city police, its owner was not aware it was missing. The preliminary cause of the blaze has been ruled as incendiary in nature, and damage to the vehicle as a result of the fire is estimated at $3,000.
