Fire crews responded to two minor incidents in Havre de Grace and Aberdeen over the weekend, according to the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Just after 3:30 a.m. on Sunday morning, members of the Level fire company responded to a report of a vehicle fire on the 3900 block of Wilkinson Road in Havre de Grace. The fire was reported by a local resident and, according to the State Fire Marshal’s office, began in the passenger compartment of a 2007 Mazda four-door sedan.
Eight firefighters brought the blaze under control in about 10 minutes. Damage to the vehicle, which was reported stolen to the Aberdeen Police Department by the owner after they were notified of the fire, is estimated at $10,000. The cause of the fire is believed to be incendiary in nature.
Another vehicle fire had broken out a day earlier, when a passerby reported a blaze in the passenger compartment of a 2001 Bounder motor home on the 1300 block of Loflin Road in Aberdeen at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Ten firefighters from the Aberdeen fire company extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at about $10,000, according to the Fire Marshal’s office, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
