The Aberdeen City Council is expected to vote Monday night on a resolution, which, if adopted, would annex into the city a property slated to be developed into a new technology campus adjacent to Battelle on Route 22.
The Aberdeen Technology Campus, LLC and Route 22 Properties are proposed to be annexed and developed as an multi-unit office park, with ancillary commercial uses, such as a bank and restaurant. The annexation plan calls for new ingress and egress points on Route 22, a new water tower to be constructed on Battelle property by Presbyterian Home of Maryland, Inc., and potential revenue of nearly $600,000 for the city once the Aberdeen Technology Campus is at full build-out.
The city council may also vote Monday night on a proposed fortune telling ordinance, which would permit fortune telling businesses within the city in certain areas and under certain circumstances. Under the proposed ordinance, fortune telling businesss would need to be approved as a Special Exception in a B-3 District, cannot operating within 1,000 feet of a school or another fortune telling business, and may have restrictions on signage and hours of operation placed upon them by the Board of Appeals.
Also on the agenda Monday night is the presentation of a proclamation in recognition of Auxiliary Police member Ronald Davis. The Aberdeen City Council session begins at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
