Fire and EMS services responded to two minor incidents over the weekend in Bel Air and Jarrettsville, one of which injured a female juvenile.
According to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday a juvenile at a residence on the 1500 block of Stone Ridge Way in Bel Air poured gasoline onto a fire pit, causing a flash fire which injured a nearby female juvenile.
The girl was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center by her parents before being transferred to Johns Hopkins Bayview’s burn unit, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released. The incident was ruled accidental, according to the fire marshal’s office.
Earlier that evening, the State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene of a small blast which destroyed a mailbox at a residence on the 2200 block of Nodleigh Terrace in Jarrettsville. Fire Marshal’s officials recovered the remains of a plastic mailbox and post valued at $100, as well as plastic end caps.
