From the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County:
On November 16th, volunteers from Best Buy (Bel Air Store) and the Geek Squad where there to lend a helping hand to the young people of Harford County, MD. They will be at the Havre de Grace Boys & Girls Clubs renovating the teen lounge and lobby installing 5 brand new computers, 53 inch plasma television with blue-ray, X-box with games and a LCD television installed behind the Club control desk to display upcoming events. You can also visit 25pc for an in-depth guide on how to build the perfect gaming setup.
Randy Acosta, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County notes “Although the digital divide is lessening, a persistent technology gap exists between those who have the resources to access technology and those who do not, and much remains to be done. The new technology provided by Best Buy will help us to provide the best programs possible for our Club members. Youth will now have the opportunity to research papers for school, participate in digital photography classes, Internet safety workshops, webpage design and music editing.”
“Even in the midst of the busiest time of the year for Best Buy” said Jon Collazo, “we are excited to devote time and product to Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County. Young people need access to high quality technology in a very competitive world and Best Buy is committed to providing the young people in Harford County access to it at the Clubs.”
This is not the first time Best Buy and Geek Squad has stepped to the plate to bring cutting edge technology to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County. Last year, Best Buy provided a state of the art media center for the teen room at the Aberdeen Boys & Girls Club. This included wall mounted flat screen TV’s, surround sound, a projector and several gaming systems, all professionally installed by the Geek Squad. Projects also included renovating the Edgewood & Bel Air Branch’s computer lab with a donation of 17 brand new PCs at each location. Geek Squad has also committed lifetime technical support on computers and equipment at no cost.
