The future of fortune telling in Bel Air could be decided next week as the town commissioners vote on an ordinance which would permit the practice within town limits.
An ordinance on the agenda during Monday night’s Board of Town Commissioners meeting would amend the Town Code by deleting and repealing in its entirety the chapter on fortune telling.
The Town Code currently deals with fortune telling as such:
It shall be unlawful for any person in the Town of Bel Air to ask, demand, charge or accept any remuneration, gratuity or anything of value for forecasting or foretelling or for pretending to forecast or foretell the future of another, by cards, palm reading or any scheme, practice or device.
Town residents will have a chance to opine on the ordinance during a public hearing, after which the Board of Town Commissioners may take a vote on the matter.

Do I have to get rid of my Magic 8 Ball since I live within town limits? Sure hope not–8 Ball hasn’t failed me yet.

Great response, M.D.! I mean, like, WHO CARES? And besides, everyone knows that a Magic Ouija Board is the ONLY way to accurately predict the future!

I am confused because it is illegal in the entire county to fortune tell. How can Bel Air supersede county law? Serious question anyone have an answer. THe following is the county law wording:
Any person in the county who shall ask, demand, charge or accept any remuneration, gratuity or anything of value for forecasting or foretelling or for pretending to forecast or foretell the future of another, by cards, palmreading or any other scheme, practice or device, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than twenty-five dollars ($25.) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.) or imprisoned for sixty (60) days or less, or both.
