From Klein’s ShopRite:
Elected officials and local celebrities are teaming up at 3 Klein’s ShopRite Stores on Wednesday, September 22, to help bag hunger in recognition of “ShopRite Partners In Caring Day,” a celebration of the 11th anniversary of ShopRite Partners In Caring, and to help “jump start” the 2010 Aegis Empty Stocking Fund drive.
ShopRite Partners In Caring is a year-round community based hunger fighting charity that helps raise awareness and funds for local food banks. Since its inception in 1999, the program has donated more than $20 million to local food banks throughout the ShopRite marketing area.
The Klein family’s chain of seven grocery stores joined the ShopRite system in 2009, and so the communities their stores serve in Harford County and Baltimore County can now be helped by this wonderful program. Each ShopRite store is donating $10,000 to the Maryland Food Bank, to be dedicated to the Harford Community Action Agency, which runs Harford County’s food bank program.
In addition, 2% of all sales made on Wednesday, September 22, at each Harford County store, are being donated to the Aegis Empty Stocking Fund, a non-profit organization that helps Harford Countians during the holiday season with food, clothing, housing, utilities, medicine, toys and more. 2% of all sales made that same day at Klein’s ShopRite of Jacksonville, in Baltimore County, are being donated to the Jacksonville Volunteer Fire Department.
On September 22, three Klein’s ShopRite stores are featuring special celebrity baggers, stationed at check-out lines, bagging groceries purchased!
These baggers include Harford County Executive David Craig; Maryland State Senators Barry Glassman and Nancy Jacobs, City of Aberdeen Mayor Michael Bennett, Town of Bel Air Administrator Christopher Schlehr, Harford County Sheriff L. Jesse Bane, County Council President Billy Boniface, members of the Harford County Council, the Town of Bel Air Board of Commissioners, the City of Aberdeen City Council, Delegates to the Maryland General Assembly, and more!
