From Harford County government:
The Harford County Department of Public Works has announced that Red Pump Road between Vale Road and Yankee Doodle Drive has been reopened to traffic. The road had been closed for more than two months to allow for the construction of a roundabout to facilitate traffic with the new Red Pump Elementary School.
Rob in Bel Air says
I am so glad that all these roundabouts are being constructed, especially the one at Wheel Road and Laurel Bush. But they have been working on that thing since July 12 and there seems to be no likeness to a circle. Perhaps it takes much more than taking up the pavement, cutting out a circle and re-paving. However, it is a mess trying to get down Wheel to Cedar and some of the other streets.
What makes it worse is that sometime in the past, some “mental giant” from the county (guessing) decided to make Patterson Mill one way (out). Granted, the road is not in the best shape and there are some “tricky” areas for two cars to pass, there should have been some grading and excavation and an exception made for temp two-way traffic. In fact, no preparations (grading, improvements, etc.) were made for increased traffic going out Patterson Mill or to the dirt portion of Cedar Lane (another way in). Cedar Lane can be tricky in some areas for two cars to pass, but it was not made one-way.
OK, maybe I’m just frustrated because it takes me longer to get home. But what effect (or is it affect?) will it have on the school buses? Emergency vehicles? OK county people, “Get er done” faster.
