Bel Air to Declare “Gets Famous Day” in Celebration Restaurant Grand Opening

Famous Dave’s Legendary Pit Bar-B-Que®, a down-home total dining experience reminiscent of a good ole’ backyard barbeque, brings slow-smoked ribs, BBQ and so much more to Bel Air, MD as doors open following pomp and celebration at 10:45 AM on Monday, August 16th.

On Monday, August 16th at 10:45 AM, executives and staff from Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que will gather community leaders and FAMOUS friends for the official opening and “rib cutting” festivities. Following the welcome will be the “Passing of the Embers” ceremony. With each restaurant opening, embers from a ceremonial smoker that originally began at the first Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que in Hayward, Wisconsin, will be brought from the last opened restaurant and passed on to the new Bel Air location. Representatives from the Bel Air Fire Department (with Wilbur the Pig in tow!) will deliver the embers to the Bel Air Famous Dave’s smokehouse.

Mayor Dave Carey will also proclaim the date Bel Air Gets Famous Day as a community-wide celebration of the Grand Opening, recognizing the city and its residents for the many reasons Bel Air, MD deserves to be Famous. Famous Dave’s is also challenging residents to submit their own reasons why Bel Air should be Famous, and will randomly award one Grand Opening entrant a tongue-tingling Labor Day backyard BBQ for 10 people! A second phase of the contest will run until August 29th – a randomly chosen winner will then be awarded an All American BBQ Feast (serves 4-6) every month for a year! Famous Dave’s will also award a kids’ prize to one randomly chosen winner (under age 10) per phase – two Lil’ Wilbur meals redeemable at the Bel Air location.
