From Harford Family House:
On August 10th, 2010 the Harford Mutual Home Runs for the Homeless event will be held at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD.
The event will offer participants a “real baseball experience”. Team members will receive an event hat and shirt and have their photos taken on a green screen. Teams of four will compete and each player will have 15 opportunities to hit a home run. The team with the longest overall yardage will win the event. Players can change in the locker room, sit in the dugout while waiting to bat and hear their play by play announced while their photo is displayed on the big screen.
This family friendly event will also feature a kid’s area set up with moon bounces and face painting and an auction filled with sports memorabilia from Iron Clad – Ripken’s Sports Memorabilia Company, and other items for those who want to take home a valuable souvenir. The event is open to team members and their guests only.
The cost to sponsor a team is $1,000 and individual players can sign up for $250 each. The winning teams will be announced and their trophies presented at an event to be held in the Upper Deck at Ripken Stadium, on the evening of the Home Runs event, from 6-10 pm. Team members attend at no cost. Other guests pay $50 each for unlimited beer, wine and heavy hand passed hors d’oeuvres.
Last year’s winning team, Benfield Electric, led by Dan Haggerty won baseball bats autographed by Cal Ripken. Team Benfield will be back again this year to defend their title.
Only 20 teams can play and slots are filling up quickly.
We appreciate the “event” level sponsorship from Harford Mutual Insurance Company which gave them the right to have the event named after their company.
Mayor Michael Bennett of Aberdeen will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Sponsorships are available and auction items, door prizes and volunteers are being sought.
Rain date, August 11th.
