Fishkill, NY – The Aberdeen IronBirds hit two home runs Friday night against the Hudson Valley Renegades and behind great pitching won 5-0 to snap a three-game losing streak.
The IronBirds got on the board first in the top of the fourth inning. With Jeremy Nowak on first base, Zach Moore hit a two-run home run to right field to give the IronBirds a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Adam Gaylord hit the second home run of the night for the IronBirds, a three-run shot to extend the lead to 5-0.
IronBirds starter, Justin Moore pitched six no-hit innings and allowed just three base runners, all on walks, to improve to 2-0 on the season.
The IronBirds pitchers combined to no-hit the Renegades through the first seven innings of the game. Elias Otero got the only hit of the night for the Renegades, a double to start the eighth inning.
Jason Gurka and David Walters combined to pitch the final three innings of the game to complete the shutout and give the IronBirds a 5-0 win.
Tomorrow is the finale of the three-game series with Tyler Sexton (0-1, 6.10) going for the IronBirds against Devin Fuller (0-1, 4.30) with a scheduled first pitch of 7:05.
Roster Update:
July 1: Transfer LHP Chad Thall to Bowie. Transfer RHP Andy Mitchell to Aberdeen from Norfolk. Place 1B David Anderson on the Temporarily Inactive List.
July 2: Place INF/OF Tyler Kolodny on the disabled list retroactive 7/1, remove LHP Mike Gonzalez from his rehab assignment.
