In addition to providing a forum for small businesses to articulate and address barriers to business growth, the Commission is responsible for recommending economic policy development measures to the Governor and General Assembly, overseeing the implementation of the Small Business Task Force recommendations, developing and recommending a standard definition of small business, advocating for full employment and skill upgrades to support business development and job creation in emerging and growth industries, identifying public/private partnership opportunities to supplement small business economic programs and financial incentives, and identifying methods to improve resource accessibility for small business enterprises.
Glassman will join Montgomery County Democratic Senator Rona Kramer on other Commission.
Senator Glassman (R) Harford County was also recently recognized by the Maryland Business for Responsible Government as a pro-business legislator. He was awarded the John Shaw Award, which is presented to Maryland Legislators with a lifetime score of 70% or above for their support of the State business climate. Senator Glassman’s lifetime average is currently 82%.
Senator Glassman stated, “I am looking forward to serving on Maryland’s Commission on Small Business as we definitely need to grow jobs in the State of Maryland and reduce the burdens on our local small businesses. I also want to bring my ideas for the State’s Agri-Businesses to the table also for support and future marketing.”
