From the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway:
Dear Friend:
On behalf of the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway Board of Directors, I would like to invite you to join other community, business leaders and elected officials in another interactive work session focused on getting the LSHG designated as a National Scenic Byway. Your participation in this event and this project is extremely important to ensure we capture the best the Lower Susquehanna Region has to offer.
Scenic Byways are attractive routes that help tell a compelling story about a place or area. The U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration awards such a designation under the National Scenic Byway Program through a detailed evaluation process. To date, over 2,672 roads have been designated by FHWA to help with their recognition, preservation and enhancement. Most of these areas have experienced economic boosts in tourism and recreation related business as a result of this National Designation. The Lower Susquehanna deserves to benefit from the economic return from such a designation. To follow up to our October community meeting last year, we are planning another meeting to solicit additional input on the designation process.
The meeting will be held in the Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway Office at 4948 Conowingo Road, Darlington MD 21034 from 6:00 to 8:30 on June 24, 2010.
Come prepared to learn about the progress made towards the Scenic Byway designation, and to contribute your ideas and energy towards this effort.
Please RSVP at LowerSusquehannaRSVP@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you on June 24!
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Lisanti
Executive Director
