(Bel Air, MD) – – The Harford County Office of Economic Development (OED) has leased space at Swan Creek Village Center that will enhance the County’s outreach efforts to the Department of Defense contractor community, and will strengthen relationships with organizations at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG). The new space, located along Route 40 less than two miles northeast of APG, will be operated by OED staff. It will offer meeting space and will serve as a landing resource for companies that are locating in Harford County.
The Federal and Business Office (FAB) will concentrate on trengthening relationships with the more than 65 organizations at APG. It will also work with the tenants of the business incubator and will be a point of contact for defense industry contractors working in Harford County.
“As the Chesapeake Science and Security Corridor continues to expand and grow, Harford County will have the resources in place to work one-on-one not only with our current companies, but also with the more than 35 new companies that have called Harford County home this past year,” stated Harford County Executive David R. Craig. “My office is committed to bringing more jobs and more companies to our County, and my administration will seek to make business development seamless by encouraging business growth and
supporting members of the business community.”
Harford County has developed its reputation as being a good place to do business due in part to its fast-track permitting process, positive business relationships, and strong community ties, as well as its recent upgrade to a AAA bond rating. The anticipated growth in both the supply of and demand for office space in the region will require additional assistance to relocating companies as they seek to expand their business relationships with the Department of Defense and with other contractors in the area. This office will be the focal point of that effort.
