The Community Foundation of Harford County is pleased to award the 2010 William A. Humbert Memorial Scholarship to Elizabeth Stefan.
Elizabeth is a graduate of Fallston High School and the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y. She is currently pursuing graduate studies in viola performance at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass.
The 2010 Scholarship will be presented on Sunday, June 6, as part of the summer concert by the Susquehanna Symphony Orchestra. Ms. Stefan will perform with the SSO, playing “Elegy for Viola and Strings” by Amanda Harberg.
The concert is at 7 p.m. at the Humbert Memorial Band Shell, Shamrock Park, in Bel Air. The public is invited to attend.Music was a lifelong interest and pleasure for William “Bill” Humbert. For many years Bill taught clarinet and saxophone to private students in Carroll and Harford counties. He was a charter member of the Bel Air Community Band in 1964, served as president of the band for 10 years and remained an active member of the clarinet section until 2000. The Community Foundation of Harford County is proud to honor Bill Humbert’s legacy through the William A. Humbert Memorial Scholarship Fund.
