From the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office:
Kyvelle Jamaas Martin, 24, of Edgewood, Maryland, reputed to be affiliated with a street gang known as The Bloods, was convicted by a Jury on April 22, 2010, of Second Degree Murder, Use of a Handgun in the Commission of a Crime of Violence, Illegal Possession of a Regulated Firearm and Wearing Carrying and Transporting a Handgun, in the shooting death of Kevin Harold Rowlette, 20, of 1013 Starboard Court, Edgewood, on July 12, 2006, at Brookside Drive in Edgewood.
Judge Emory A. Plitt, Jr. presided at the trial.
The charges arose when the defendant went to the home of the victim to confront him about the fact that the victim had accused the defendant of robbing him several weeks earlier. The defendant accosted Mr. Rowlette on his front lawn, shooting him once in the face with a handgun and killing him. Martin then fled to Georgia where he was arrested and returned to Maryland. Assistant State’s Attorneys Sal Fili and Doug Dolan said after the verdict the victim’s family were pleased with the verdict.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 23, 2010, at 9:00 AM, before the Judge Plitt in the Circuit Court for Harford County.
