From the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office:
(April 23, 2010) – Deputy State Fire Marshals are asking the community for help in identifying persons responsible for placing and activating a chemical reaction bomb last night.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 23, 2010 at approximately 8:00 p.m. at the McDonald’s located at 1325 Riverside Parkway, Bel Camp, Harford County. A chemical reaction device was placed on a table inside the restaurant and spread toxic fumes into the air.
Employees observed a smoking plastic bottle on a table located in the lobby area. Four employees were transported to Harford Memorial Hospital with symptoms of nausea and sore throat pain. All four employees were treated and released.
Members of the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Department, Harford County Hazardous Materials Team, Harford County Health Department responded with Deputy State Fire Marshal’s to access the scene.
Investigators collected evidence of the chemical reaction bomb after the restaurant was rendered safe for entry.
The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is requested to call the Elkton Office of the State Fire Marshal at 410-996-2793.

This is really scary. I live directly across the street and its disheartening that something like this would happen so close. I am glad everyone is alright and I hope the community helps law enforement as much as they can to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The 2 people were teens and arrested at aberdeen high, the thing is i go there…

I’m just curious as to what chemicals were actually used. If it was something serious like Ricin or sarin gas, I would be worried. But based on the story I get the vibe that its most likely a bunch of kids pulling stupid stunts and mixing household chemicals like Draino and aluminum.
