Johnny One Note strikes again. Seriously, I cannot trust the food inspection people anymore—this just seems like a shakedown. Other counties are way more specific and give examples of problems, not a catchall sort of “Gotcha! Look at me, Mommy, I did my job today–see, I used words.” Makes Harford County inspectors look corrupt or like just plain lazy bullies. Bunch of clipboard bean counters.
Shortcakechick says
Yes I would definitely like to have more precise circumstances listed as to what these violations are. It seems a little off to me that everything is so vague.
Dave Yensan says
As editrix so aptly points out. They are striking again but with a dead weapon. What the hell do the write ups really mean that they found a dead rat in the soup? Was the food spoiled? Were the employees playing with themselves? The comments as repeated above are absolutely meaningless! Get off your dead ass in the health department and tell us if the restaurants are doing their jobs or not. “Violation: Potentially hazardous food must be held at proper temperature. Food must be held at proper cold temperature.” tells me what the regulations state. Are they doing something wrong? Form this report I would say not. How the F*** do you earn your paycheck? Susan, get out there and do something for us for a change.

Being someone that worked extensively in the food industry while going through high school and college I realize how silly the food inspection violations can be. I worked at about a half dozen different restaurants and every single one failed for keeping food at the proper temperature at some point or another. Its so easy to be in violation because the inspector comes in and sticks a thermometer in everything and if its one degree under your in violation. In one instance the restaurant I worked at got written up because the chicken that was pulled from the fridge to be deskinned and seasoned was not being stored on ice. Lets be real! Whens the last time you pulled chicken from the fridge and placed it in the sink in ice and water prior to cooking it? Whens the last time you saw a TV chef do that? never! Most chain restaurants, while they really dont like the negative press, really only look at the violation as a “oops oh well” situation.

Ding, ding, ding! We have a loser!

Fallston, MD 21047
Violations: Food workers must practice effective hand washing procedures. Potentially hazardous food must be properly cooled.
“FOOD WORKERS MUST PRACTICE EFFECTIVE HAND WASHING PROCEDURES!”
Yuck.
And to echo what has already been said, there are so many temperature violations that they lose meaning altogether.
John T says
Everybody can’t be holding food at the wrong temperature. It would seem the inspectors need new testing equipment.
Doug says
I’ve worked in a few restaurants and I know what they would be getting away with if no one was checking, so I’m glad these people are out there. Keeping food at the proper temperature is critical.
Keep up the good work
Anna says
I agree that the violations should be more specific…and if we could see the report written, I would think that in the “comments” section, the inspector is writing his heart out! Cracker Barrel in Bel Air just shut down due to a “surprise” health inspection…indefinately…anyone hear of anything??
mac says
first it is in Belcamp not belair and its open again had some equipment replaced in the kitchen

Inspectors only follow the rules. Doesn’t mean these places are not fit to eat in. I wonder why they don’t go after the restaurants that hire the many illegal aliens who come into our country not vaccinated.. Now thats a threat folks. Do you want them handling your food or working our farms? Keep laying back and ignoring and think this is a race issue. Illegal is not a race and they aren’t too healthy..Here’s some places you might be familiar with. Double T,
many mcdonalds,local farmers.
