BEL AIR, Md.—The Harford baseball team will kick-off the 2010 Harford Athletics spring season on Feb. 20 when it travels to Bolivia, N.C., to face Brunswick for a two-day, four-game series. The Fighting Owls men’s lacrosse team opens the season on the same weekend and will host the first spring competition on Harford soil as it welcomes Brookdale on Feb. 21, while its female counterpart starts the season on the road against MDJUCO conference-foe CCBC-Catonsville on Mar. 2. The men’s tennis team will see action for the first time on Mar. 3 when it travels to Shepherd, while the softball team hosts Chesapeake for a conference doubleheader on Mar. 7. The Harford golf team wraps up the spring season-openers on March 25 when it hosts Salem.
The Owl baseball and men’s lacrosse teams look to have the toughest spring schedules as the baseball squad has four top-ten teams from the Collegiate Baseball Pre-Season Poll on its schedule and the men’s lacrosse team will face three of the four national tournament qualifiers from 2009.
The baseball team will open home competition against Mercer on Feb. 27 and will also meet Collegiate Baseball Division-II No. 7 Allegany (Mar. 6), D-III No. 2 Montgomery College-Germantown (Apr. 3), D-III No. 4 Gloucester (Apr. 9) and D-III No. 5 Brookdale (Apr. 25).
The Harford men’s lacrosse team opens its season at home against Brookdale on Feb. 21 and will also face 2009 NJCAA National Championship participants CCBC-Essex (Apr. 8) and Anne Arundel (Apr. 21) as well as national runner-up Nassau (Apr. 10).
The Owl softball and women’s lacrosse teams will both battle national tournament participants to start their seasons as softball hosts D-II Region XX and District 1 champ Chesapeake (Mar. 7) and lacrosse travels to Region XX and District D champ CCBC-Catonsville (Mar. 2).
The Harford women’s lacrosse team will face Nassau in its home-opener on Mar. 12, while the softball team will also face D-III national participant, Region XIX and District F champion Brookdale (Apr. 19).
After opening the season at Shepherd (Mar. 3), the men’s tennis team will host Stevenson in its first home match on Mar 4 and will also take on D-III Region XIX champion Gloucester (Mar. 10).
The golf team wraps up the spring sport schedules and will host Salem in the season-opener on Mar. 25 and will also meet MDJUCO regular-season champion Anne Arundel (Apr. 22).
