Harford County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a domestic dispute that occurred in the 1000 block of Ellicott Drive Bel Air, Maryland on October 31, 2009 at approximately 1210 p.m. that resulted in the death of resident Jason Lawrence, 23.
A 911 call was received by the Emergency Operation Center that indicated a domestic dispute was occurring and residents were being threatened by a subject with a knife. The first responding deputy was met by a family member in front of the residence who stated Jason Lawrence was inside the residence armed with a knife.
Upon the deputy entering the residence he encountered Mr. Lawrence who threatened him with a knife. In fear for his safety as well as others in the residence the deputy drew his firearm and fired striking Mr. Lawrence several times in the torso area.
Deputies rendered aid to Mr. Lawrence until medical personnel arrived and continued treatment. Mr. Lawrence was transported by Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center where he later died. There were no other injuries sustained during the incident.
