The fourth annual gala to benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County, “Brawl & Ball” will feature ballroom dancing and exquisite food. The event will be held at the Beechtree Golf Club from 6pm-11pm on Saturday, October 3, 2009.
“Brawl & Ball is a first-class event to raise funds for our Boys & Girls Clubs while providing a unique evening of quality entertainment for all who attend,” says event chair Diane Smith. “This year’s exquisite menu has been specially planned by Beechtree’s own Chef Manny Martinez and is sure to exceed all expectations.”
A cigar roller from Pennsylvania will be on site after dinner to hand make cigars for guests to enjoy. Judge Angela Eaves will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the evening where the Karas family will be honored for their long standing commitment to the community and particularly to the Boys & Girls Clubs. Throughout the evening, guests will be able to see pictures of Club members and supporters thanks to the generous donation of a jumbotron by George Robinson of Light Speed Advertising.
Dancing will follow as guests move to the sounds of Fifth Avenue, a regional favorite. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on many fine items in a silent auction. In addition, amazing fine items will be available to the highest bidder in a live auction.
“The Brawl & Ball tradition started 4 years ago as a way to raise funds to support the children of Harford County. It is a way to bring together the caring people of Harford County to fight for the future of the county’s most vulnerable population- its children. It also provides an elegant night of fine dining and entertainment,” explains Diane. “The Boys & Girls Clubs are open to all youth, especially those who need us most, those who can not fight for themselves. There is a definite need in Harford County – these kids need our support. The theme this year is “Be Great… Dream.” Everyone has a dream and the Boys & Girls Club, with the support of the community, can help our youth realize their dreams.”
Tickets are $500 per couple and can be purchased by contacting Linda Grimes at the Boys & Girls Club of Harford County 410-272-0010. The organization is also accepting in-kind donations as well as silent auction items. Limited sponsorship opportunities are still available. Please direct all questions or donations to Mary Barry, Director of Development at (410) 272 0010 ext. 13 or mbarry@bgcharfordco.org .
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Harford County, a private, non-profit, positive youth development organization, was established in 1989 when a group of concerned citizens realized that children and youth needed positive activities and opportunities after-school, on weekends, and during the summer. From modest beginnings with the first 40 Club members in a church basement, there are now Boys & Girls Clubs in Aberdeen, Bel Air, Edgewood, and Havre de Grace serving more than 2,800 children and teens ages 6 to 18 on an annual basis.
