Vintage Base Ball And Pirates Coming To Havre de Grace This Summer

Vintage Base Ball Comes to Town

The Dauntless Base Ball Club of Havre de Grace, sponsored by the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House, will be playing their first home match June 28 at the Steppingstone Museum. Match time is 12:00p.m.

Come out and enjoy Base Ball 1860’s style! Players wear vintage uniforms from the period, compete according to the rules of 1864 and even play without gloves. There will be early base ball history displays, historical re-enactors, kids games and more.

The pirates are coming! The pirates are coming!

Did you know the first act of piracy in Maryland occurred near what is now called Garrett Island in 1635? To commemorate this odious event, the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House is hosting a Pirate Encampment July 11 & 12. Re-enactors will recreate the life of pirates through living history demonstrations using authentic period dress, customs and mannerisms. See the pirates live, work, play and of course, plunder! The encampment is open both Saturday (10-5) and Sunday (10-3). Adults are $3 and Kids 5-12 are $1.

In conjunction with this event, the Lock House Museum is having a Pirate Gala Saturday July 11th from 7-11 pm on the museum grounds. After a hard days work and being on their best behavior for visitors, the pirates want to party. Come join them for a Caribbean style feast, featuring food from the Laurrapin Grille, beer and wine, cash bar, live reggae music and live and auction items. Pirate dress is encouraged…if you want to win the costume contest! Tickets are $50.00 each and can be purchased at the following places; Laurrapin Grille, Cork & Barrel, Java by the Bay and the Havre de Grace Visitor’s Center.
