(Aberdeen, MD) – – On May 19 RTR Technologies LLC was awarded the distinguished “Small business Person of the Year” for the State of Maryland by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). The award was presented by Karen G. Mills, SBA Administrator in Washington, D.C. The company was also invited to the White House to meet with the President and his staff, who honored the winners of National Small Business Week.
The SBA award recognizes outstanding small business persons throughout the country who have consistently demonstrated sustained growth, provide value added product or service offerings to their customer base, and contribute substantially to their local community. RTR Technologies was nominated for the award by Harford County Economic Development and was elected by the SBA amongst all the candidates in the State of Maryland. Prior to this award, the company was formerly recognized as “Incubator Company of the Year” during its start up operations, as well as one of “Smart CEO Magazines – Fast 50”.
RTR Technologies founders’, Randy Rippin, Reed Rippin, and Earl Thies, are experienced managers and technical experts in the field of operations research. They have over 120 combined years of experience in the industry and have worked together in business, supporting federal customers, for 25 years. The company was established July, 2003 as an Operations Research Firm and began operations as a home based business.
They were provided the opportunity in 2004 to participate in Harford County’s incubator program, which offered them invaluable resources to help facilitate the growth of their business. RTR graduated from the incubator program in 2006 and with the help of SBA loan guarantees re-located to new space in Aberdeen, Maryland, and now occupy approximately 5,000 square feet of corporate office space. During this time they opened additional offices in the Rosslyn, Virginia and Patuxent River, Maryland areas.
Since July, 2003, the company expanded operations from three employees to 16 full-time employees, six part-time employees, two college interns and 20 field data sub contractors.
The RTR professional team has more than 200 years of combined experience in providing quality Modeling, Simulation, & Analysis (MS&A), Verification, Validation & Accreditation (VV&A), program management, and technical support services to government and industry. RTR specializes in performing studies and analysis, using simulation models, to analyze technology, logistics, concept of operations, human capital, infrastructure, and security requirements throughout the systems engineering life cycle.
