(Harford County, MD – January 6, 2008) Harford County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the promotion of Dale Stonesifer to the rank of Major.
He will serve as the Commander of the Services and Support Bureau which provides the Citizens of Harford County with the very core services that all Sheriff’s Offices nationwide are required to provide, the service of civil documents and the protection of our courts.
The units that fall under his command are Law Enforcement Central Records, Property Management, Quartermaster and Fleet Management, Apprehension (Warrants), Civil Process, Circuit Court Security, Domestic Violence, the Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE), Training Academy and the Crime Analysis Unit. In his most recent assignment with the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, Stonesifer held the position of Captain in charge of the Planning and Research Office. In that role, he supervised the Planning and Research team, Crime Analysis Unit and the Agency’s Computer Support team.
He was instrumental in managing a minimum of twenty five grants which accounted for over $1.9 million in supplemental funding to the Harford County Sheriff’s Office. In addition, he has served as the Sheriff’s representative for the county wide Pandemic Flu, Base Realignment and Closing (BRAC), and Regional Crime Analysis Sharing (RCAS) projects. He has also held the responsibility for the planning and implementation of all activities related to the building of the new Southern Precinct and Tactical Building.
Stonesifer brings over twenty years of experience in law enforcement to his new rank of Major. Through out his career in the Harford County Sheriff’s Office, he has been assigned to Patrol, the Police Services Division, the Drug Interdiction Unit, the Harford County Narcotics Task Force, the Criminal Investigation Division and Planning and Research Division.
A graduate of Edgewood High School, Major Stonesifer completed his Associates of Arts Degree from Harford Community College. He has completed numerous certifications and trainings throughout his career with the Sheriff’s office, including U.S Department of Justice, DEA, Drug Unit Commander’s Academyand the Greater Chesapeake Law Enforcement Executive Development School (LEEDS).
