NORTH EAST, Md.—The Harford women’s soccer team won its fourth straight and sophomore goalie Jessica Stumpf (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) tallied her fourth straight shutout as the Fighting Owls (7-3) downed Cecil, 5-0 on Monday afternoon at Cecil CC.
Stumpf has not allowed a goal in over 380 minutes, with the last coming during the 68th minute of a 2-0 loss to CCBC-Catonsville on Sept. 23.
Freshman Tiffany Runk (Abingdon, Md./Kenwood) tallied her first hat trick with all three goals in the second half.
Sophomore Terry Buontempo (Nottingham, Md./Perry Hall) tallied her second goal in as many games with a penalty kick at the 15:00 mark to give the Owls the 1-0 lead that they would carry into halftime.
Runk’s scoring frenzy began just seven minutes into the second half as she finished a free kick from sophomore Eliza Burk (Perry Hall, Md./Perry Hall) from 10 yards out at the 52:00 mark.
Later in the period, Runk would take a ball from freshman Jessica Spalt (Joppa, Md./Eastern Tech) and fire into the net from the 18 for her second straight goal of the game.
Freshman Kasey Lindecamp (Perryville, Md./Perryville) would break up Runk’s scoring run as she added a goal off sophomore Becca Bazemore’s (Churchville, Md./C. Milton Wright) corner at the 72:00 mark to give Harford a 4-0 lead.
Runk would tally her third and final goal of the game soon after as she headed another Bazemore corner into goal to give Harford the 5-0 win over Cecil.
Stumpf tallied one save in the 90:00, while her counterpart, Tara Bernal, totaled five.
The Fighting Owls will open a two-game homestand beginning on Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. matchup against Rockville and then a 3:30 p.m. game on Friday versus Frederick.
